Paradox Interactive and Triumph Studios today announced details of Age of Wonders 4: Empires & Ashes, a major expansion for the hit fantasy strategy game.
The pack includes the largest content expansion for Age of Wonders 4 to date, introducing an industrial warfare culture, a new bird-like body shape, an additional victory condition, new spellbooks, mounts, missions and much more.
In Age of Wonders 4: Empires & Ashes, players can challenge tradition and combine magic and steel with new technologies to create powerful war machines and destroy enemy cities. The Raider culture is determined to advance society through industry, and by unlocking the Seals of Power, players can achieve a new kind of victory and gain control of the Astral Sea.
Community feedback as a basis
“Age of Wonders 4 continues to expand through ongoing development and community feedback. The most important features of Age of Wonders 4: Empires & Ashes:
Robber culture: The players of the Robber Culture, whose industrial power is strengthened through conquest and raids, advance progress at all costs. These skilled engineers have mastered the art of combining magic with technology to achieve unprecedented power and dominance.
Bird shape: Players can hatch their cleverest strategy with the new bird form, which has a range of characteristics and customization options.
Four new books: Players can hone their anti-magic skills, unlock the secrets of transmutation, and build legions of machines and automatons. They create magical mechanical wonders and dominate the battlefield like never before.
New victory mechanic for the Seals of Power: Players will find and claim the Seals of Power to control access to the Astral Sea - and hold them long enough to control the Empire in a fan-favorite Age of Wonders victory condition!
Two new story missions: Players fight alongside Laryssa to stop the raging forces of Chaos from destroying the Astral Sea.
A new old wonder and a new place of plague: Players can discover a new hidden wonder and explore contaminated abandoned workshops. Harness the power of ancient relics and carve your way to greatness!
New Wildlife Units and Mounts: From bear mounts to junk hermits, ready to obey orders or fall before the player's might.
Six new pieces of music: Six new titles take players into a world full of fantasy and adventure!
Additionally will Empires & Ashes released with a major free content update, the Golem Update, bringing new gameplay features to all players. It includes, among other things, 25 new events in the game related to war and conquest as well as improved water gameplay with graphical and mechanical adjustments when navigating the seas of the world map and in combat.
Empires & Ashes will be released on November 7, 2023 at a recommended retail price of 19,99 euros. Players who have purchased the Premium Edition of Age of Wonders 4 or the Expansion Pass will receive Empires & Ashes when the expansion is released.
