The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch comes later than hoped. As Nintendo announced, they had to postpone the new part of the series until next year. The developers want to use the additional time to “make the gaming experience something special.”
The postponement of the successor to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is ultimately not that surprising: Although Nintendo had stated in its previous showcase that the sequel should appear in 2022, there has not been much of the title to see so far. So while the delay was entirely predictable, the new news is a bit of a disappointment for fans who were hoping for an early launch.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: New part only in 2023
In a recent video released by Nintendo, The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Auonuma states that the developers are "working diligently on the game". They want to use the additional time to make something special out of the gaming experience. As unfortunate as the postponement of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is, the new video shows some small scenes from the game.
Auonuma also gives some insights into the title. So fans can look forward to an "even greater variety of features", including new gameplay elements and new enemies. Nintendo has already given an indication of this by registering new patents, so that the so-called "phasing" - you love and hate it on World of Warcraft, for example - could also play a role in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2.
After the presentation of the Zelda sequel at E3, Nintendo already announced that they would only dare to publish the title of the game when the release date was actually closer. One thing is already clear: Even if The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will build on its predecessor, it should be a standalone game.
