The appearance of the Nintendo Switch 2 is just as unknown as the release date or the technical details. The Japanese game and console manufacturer is still keeping quiet - a new leak claims to have revealed the look of the new Nintendo console. At least in part.
If you take the Nintendo Switch as a reference, the Japanese entertainment company would have hardly any significant reasonto adapt the design of the successor console beyond details. The hybrid gaming device is almost perfect: handy, light, practical, dual-purpose, with innovative controllers and a very good battery life. The appearance of the Nintendo Switch 2 is still completely unknown - there is no official information, and Nintendo has not even given any hints. A leak now claims to have revealed the possible design.
Nintendo Switch 2: Drawing shows console
Already in September, pictures were circulating on the Internet showing the alleged appearance of the Nintendo Switch 2 Fans were happy to use the rumors as a starting point for discussions, as there is no official information about the design of the new console, although it is said that a release will take place in spring 2025. A recent X-post from "Centro Leaks" now shows a rough sketch of the alleged appearance of the console.
There are no real pictures this time anyway, just a rough black and white drawing that only shows the outline and the stand of the console. Whether the Nintendo Switch 2 actually looks like this – or at least similar – remains a mystery. Nintendo has of course not officially commented on the leak.

Yes, the source is dubious, the image comes from an anonymous Famiboards user, but at least such a design would be a realistic variant in theory. Because Nintendo would then have done what many scene insiders expect: used the Nintendo Switch as a basis for slight concept adjustments.
The docking station is rounded and a bit more streamlined. This could also be the case in reality, for example to create more space for technology in the lower part of the docking station. Because other rumors say that the Unreal 5 Engine supported by the new console and the device is supposed to be more powerful anyway, Nintendo might have needed a little more space to accommodate the electronics or additional cooling elements. That would at least be a possible explanation for such a decision regarding the appearance.
Purely aesthetic reasons without any other benefit would also be possible to give the successor a clear visual difference to the Nintendo Switch. Because: At least according to the sketch, the actual game unit, the handheld, looks almost like its predecessor.
The obvious adjustment would have been made by the Japanese manufacturer in the stand bracket, which could be larger on the Nintendo Switch 2 and run over the entire length of the console. If that were actually the case, it would be a wise decision: It would be the Nintendo Switch 2 will provide good stability while reducing the amount of fold-out material. The original fold-out stand of the Nintendo Switch was practical, but also a wobbly affair. With the OLED model Nintendo improved it itself, giving players a kickstand that runs the entire length of the console and can even be adjusted. A clear improvement! Nintendo could now stick with that and ultimately just change the design, and possibly the material.
Ultimately, such rumors should be treated with caution, because information from official sources is Nintendo Switch 2 has not even begun to materialise.
