Most current games on the Xbox offer either a graphics mode with 30 fps or a performance mode with, for example, reduced resolution and 60 fps. This setting was previously missing in Starfield, which was heavily criticized by many players, as 60 fps offers a more pleasant and smoother gaming experience, and not just in fast scenes.
Although calls for a higher frame rate were made shortly after its release, Starfield has been relatively quiet until recently. It is therefore all the more pleasing that, in addition to numerous other improvements such as a new additional difficulty level and a revised map, a performance mode is now finally available, although it is only being released for Series X owners.
The new mode will not appear on the Series S. In addition to the performance mode, there will be another additional mode that is specifically aimed at owners of VRR displays. This offers a setting of 120 fps with full graphics on 40 Hz screens.
In addition to the new graphics modes, the update also brings other innovations. These include, for example, a new difficulty level called "Extreme", which will be the highest level in the future. In addition, the maps have been improved in terms of orientation, which, along with the lack of a performance mode, is also a major point of criticism from players. For example, important places in an area will be easier to find in the future. Other improvements also include a land vehicle and further adjustments to the spaceships.
