The Austrian publisher Rudy Games is launching a new game after being taken over by Gamelab. The title uses a real classic theme: it's about pirates.
In “Piratas!”, up to 6 players take on the role of a pirate captain, put together a powerful crew and go on a privateering trip. By cleverly playing cards, you fight, loot and capture valuable gold treasures. Whoever has collected the most gold ducats at the end wins the game.
Pirate adventures off screen
The pre-order phase is over your own web shop is already running - and there is good news for fans: "All pre-orders received by November 26th will be delivered in time for Christmas," says product manager Gertrude Kurzmann. The official market launch is not planned until spring 2024.
Rudy Games? It is the publisher behind games like Leaders, Interaction or Crazy Driver - all so-called hybrid games in which a board game concept is supported with app mechanisms. With “Piratas!”, some fans might be surprised: for the re-launch under the Gamelabs label, they are relying on an idea for the first time that has no software in the background.
“Piratas!” does not require an app at all. However, it should still be “a lot of fun”. The makers don't want to raise false expectations. Therefore, “Piratas!” will be officially released by Gamelab and will neither have the “Rudy Games” logo nor the “App+” reference.
“The simple gameplay and the funny illustrations impressed us right from the start,” says Carina Schmiedseder from Gamelab. “We are therefore very pleased to be able to further expand our games portfolio with “Piratas!”,” continued Schmiedseder.
The game by Pedro Sales and Renato Simoes is aimed at two to six players aged eight and over. According to the publisher, a game lasts around 20 minutes.
