Lovers of classic role-playing games can now download the titles Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale for the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch consoles as digital downloads. Beamdog and Skybound Games have announced this together. Physical box versions are also available for Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale.

They are considered epic representatives of their genre - and classics anyway: Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale. All four role-playing games are now also available for console players for the Xbox device family, Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Neverwinter Nights is also coming, but not until December 3, 2019, as an Enhanced Edition.

Epic role-playing games for consoles

Role-playing games in the Dungeons & Dragons universe are few and far between for consoles. At least until now. What PC and mobile gamers have been able to do for a long time is now also open to console gamers: Enjoy the epic genre representatives with all their content.

For the first time, the classics Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale, and later Neverwinter Nights, will be released for consoles. All titles are available as digital downloads in the respective shops. In addition, Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment including Icewind Dale are also available as physical versions - even as a Collector's Edition.

In addition to the game, the collector's version includes a set of metal dice with engraving, two sets of pins, a medallion with the Bhaal skull, an imitation leather diary with Baldur's Gate emblem and a parchment-look card. The console collector's edition with Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale also contains numerous goodies, including a Morte stress ball and a pendant of the Lady of Pain. The Collector's Editions cost around 130 euros, for the standard versions players have to pay 50 euros.

The Baldur's Gate series is now celebrating its 20th birthday. Both parts are therefore coming onto the market including all additional content for consoles that has been published so far. Also included is the expansion “Siege of the Dragonspear” as well as new content developed by Beamdog, which is supposed to bridge the gap between the two video game parts.

With the role-playing complete packages, Beamdog and Skybound Games want to inspire newcomers to the classics as well as give veterans the chance to enjoy the genre representatives on the big screens again. The console versions have therefore been graphically adapted and optimized for modern large screens, and the user interface has also been revised. In addition, the developers have geared the controls to gamepads. Particularly exciting: There is new content, new characters and classes and expanded customization options in the character editor.
