Pokémon at McDonalds: Pull in the burger, pull out the cards

Cards from the Pokémon trading card game are available again at McDonald's - now in all participating branches. Fans can win 15 tickets. What these are has long been known.

This is the third promotion in three years at McDonald's. The spectacle was only interrupted last year by the Super Mario event. The new campaign includes toys for “Pokémon Match Battle” as well as 15 different cards.

McDonald's: These Pokémon cards exist

Fast food and video games – they fit like tomatoes and lettuce on the new BicMac TS. This time there's a lot of Pokémon stuff to pick up in Germany's favorite food temple - in the Happy Meal. In addition to treats, it also includes a total of 15 available Pokémon cards.

New monsters from the ninth generation are included. So McDonald's doesn't do things by halves, but actually gives fans trading cards based on the generation that fans playfully played with the two Pokémon titles Crimson and Purple Nintendo Switch can experience. Among others, there are the starters Krokel, Kwaks and Felori.

McDonald's actually didn't plan the cards themselves as surprise content: a list including pictures can be found on the official Pokémon campaign website.

How long will McDonald's still have Pokémon cards available?

The Pokémon trading cards are available at McDonald's "while supplies last", or at least that's what it says on the company's German website. You can get the collectible toy in participating restaurants, so not automatically in every branch. In Austria, McDonald's is a bit more specific: There, they give September 6th as the end date. The fact that McDonald's is once again relying on the pocket monsters can hardly be a coincidence. Apparently the campaign continues to be extremely popular.

Fans sometimes choose what is included in the Happy Meal in addition to the Pokémon cards themselves, but because TCG cards are not exclusively available as toys, this should be communicated. Otherwise, McDonald's Happy Meal is now also aimed at vegetarians, who can choose, among other things, McPlant Nuggets as their main course. Ultimately, there is a bit of luck involved. Because every Happy Meal contains four Pokémon trading cards, but you are not allowed to choose them. Instead, the cards are distributed randomly.
