Things are slowly getting serious for fans who are waiting for the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo plans to release information in a few days – but before that, there will be new details about upcoming games in a short-notice Direct presentation.
The approximately 30-minute livestream will showcase upcoming games for Nintendo Switch, the company announced in the announcement. However, the console manufacturer also clarified that the presentation will not include any new information about Nintendo Switch 2. Anyone hoping for surprising news about the console successor before the planned stream in early April will be disappointed.
It is unclear, however, which games will be shown in the announced Direct presentation on March 27th starting at 15 p.m. However, the show is not entirely uninteresting for fans of the scene, as it could be historic: Because on April 2nd it will already be about the Nintendo Switch 2, the show on March 27th could be the last one ever to focus on the original console. In short: Fans may be able to watch the last Nintendo Switch presentation – and there have been several since the release of the hybrid gaming hardware. The console was released in spring 2017, just over eight years ago. For a console, this is an incredibly long life cycle – if you leave out the slightly revised OLED model. This shows how huge the Nintendo Switch's success has been. All models combined (original, Lite, OLED) have sold over 150 million units. Statistically, every second owner has also purchased the hit game Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The software has sold around 67 million times. Figures also show that it is primarily the games that generate revenue: around 1.300 million units were sold, which mathematically equates to around 162,5 million game sales per year of the console's life. Nintendo Switch means.
The Direct thus perhaps marks the end of a hugely successful era and simultaneously leads into Nintendo's next generation. Fans will have to wait a while longer for official information or even a release date for the Switch 2, but fortunately, not much longer.
The console and game manufacturer plans to reveal details about the Nintendo Switch 2 in the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation, which will be shown on April 2nd.
