The release of the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5th was quite surprising, even though industry experts had repeatedly predicted a release in summer 2025. Fans are now hoping to be able to pre-order the console soon. When pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will actually be possible, however, remains to be seen. Nintendo has announced April 8th as the date, from then on, pre-orders of the two available versions for €469,99 without the game or €509,99 with the new Mario Kart will initially only be possible through Nintendo itself, making life difficult for scalpers. In a second step, retailers will also have the consoles in stock. GameStop, for example, has already announced April 9th as the start of pre-orders.
Nintendo Switch 2 already available at Amazon
The games announced so far for Nintendo Switch 2 are impressive – including Cyberpunk 2077 and Star Wars Outlaws, but Civilization VII will also be playable on the hybrid console. In addition, Nintendo's own titles will be released in enhanced versions, including HDR features. To even get started, fans need the console itself. It will be available in stores from June 5th and includes, in addition to the Nintendo Switch 2 console, the Joy-Con 2 controllers (L + R), a Joy-Con 2 mount, and Joy-Con 2 wrist straps. Additionally, there's the Nintendo Switch 2 dock, an Ultra High-Speed HDMI cable, a Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter, and a USB-C charging cable.
Overall, this is pretty standard fare – there are no major surprises in the starter package – which comes with the Mario Kart World set.
In any case, the Nintendo Switch 2 was listed on Amazon just a few hours after the Direct show, so you can find the console by searching the retail giant. The device isn't available for pre-order yet: "Currently unavailable. It is unknown if and when this item will be back in stock," the message on the item reads. However, the listing alone suggests that pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will begin soon.
