The further away the official presentation of the Nintendo Switch 2, the more criticism arises. While the successor console has been largely received positively, there are occasional fan outrages.
One thing is clear: people like to complain, especially online. With the introduction of the Nintendo Switch 2, fans are now hoping for a new and magnificent console generation, but at the same time, some gamers are warning against being too exuberant, as problems are looming. For example, the price: While the console itself is in a higher, but manageable, segment, fans say the situation is quite different for the games. And there are also points of criticism regarding the hardware itself. Fans are now expressing outrage because the battery life is back on par with the original console and not with the extended battery resources of the revised model.
Switch 2 battery life will be approx. 2 – 6.5 hours!
– For comparison the original Switch at launch had a battery life of 2.5 – 5.5 hours
– Updated regular Switch has a battery life of 4.5 – 9 hours pic.twitter.com/IoDqsZ4fKP— Genki ✨ (@Genki_JPN) April 3, 2025
No problem for casual players
One advantage of the Nintendo Switch 2 is its hybrid approach. Instead of having to play stationary in front of the TV at home, fans can take the console with them to immerse themselves in their favorite worlds wherever they want. A powerful battery with ample runtime is especially important in this case. It now appears that the battery will last roughly as long as the original Switch's. This means you'll be able to play for between two and around six and a half hours, after which you'll need to recharge. By comparison, the popular Steam Deck lasts between two and eight hours. The updated Switch consoles lasted between 4,5 and 9,5 hours.
For casual gamers who only want to play for a few hours at a time, this isn't a problem. However, more persistent gamers might find this annoying. What's different is the significantly higher processing power. In handheld mode, the Switch 2 achieves up to 120 frames per second at 1080p thanks to the modern Nvidia chipset. One X user also states that the charging time should be around three hours, but ultimately, this isn't a significant difference compared to the current model.
Most fans will certainly not be bothered by the running time, but given the increased prices, it will of course be discussed extensively.
