The publisher Alderac Entertainment Group has announced a new addition to the board game segment: Undergrove, a new game by the winged author Elizabeth Hargrave, will be coming onto the market. The title was created together with Mark Wootton.
AEG is pleased to introduce its new game Undergrove, an area control board game with a dice conversion (undergrove: Cube conversion) developed by Elizabeth Hargrave and Mark Wootton. True to your line at Hargrave: Once again, a board game is about nature.
The love of nature as a board game
Elizabeth Hargrave (Wings, Mariposas) and Mark Wootton (Doom Town, Thunderstone: Quest, The Legend of the Five Rings) met through their work on Mariposas for AEG. They both discovered that they had a shared love of nature, games and connecting these two worlds.
With Undergrove, the inspiration is to make essentially barely visible natural processes visible and playable in order to ultimately be able to view the symbiosis between mushrooms and trees from a different perspective. In the board game, fans play a full-grown Douglas fir tree in the Pacific Northwest. Your goal is to grow seedlings and help them successfully grow into trees.
Success depends on player interaction, efficient resource management and building tiny engines. At the end of the game, whoever has grown the best seedlings with the most valuable symbiotic relationships wins.
Undergrove is due to launch a campaign later this year Kickstarter will launch in crowdfunding and include a standard edition and a deluxe edition that will take game fans deep into the pine forests of the Pacific Northwest.
