Gearbox Publishing and Blackbird Interactive have released the full version of their new documentation. The video offers a behind-the-scenes look at Homeworld 3, the highly anticipated new chapter in the award-winning sci-fi strategy series, set to release on March 8, 2024.
Homeworld 3 was voted eighth among the most anticipated PC games of 70 by a panel of 2024 members of the global gaming industry. In addition, a new behind-the-scenes documentary was unveiled during the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted Showcase, offering an insight into the development of Homeworld 3.

Filmed at the developers' Vancouver studio, the documentary focuses on pivotal moments in the game's development and chronicles this team of veterans' twenty-year journey to realize their long-held vision for the game and series. It's a never-before-seen behind-the-scenes look at how music, art, narrative and innovative game design drive the development of 2024's most epic space adventure.
In addition, Blackbird Interactive and Gearbox Publishing have released a developer blog that goes into detail about various aspects of the game, including the roguelike War Games mode and the highly popular Skirmish mode among fans of the series.
Homeworld 3 will be released on March 8, 2024 on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. This was recently announced as part of the PC Gaming Show's Most Wanted Showcase, where the title was named the 8th most anticipated game.
Homeworld 3 also supports the latest graphics technologies such as:
- HDR & Ray Tracing: HDR and Ray Tracing can be enabled on compatible graphics cards for soft shadows with contact hardening.
- AMD: AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution 2 is supported for compatible AMD, NVIDIA and Intel graphics cards.
- NVIDIA: NVIDIA DLSS3 and Frame Generation is supported for compatible NVIDIA graphics cards.
- Intel: Compatible with Intel ARC graphics cards.
Homeworld 3 is now available for pre-order in the following editions: Standard, Deluxe, Fleet Command and Collector's. All players who pre-order Homeworld 3 will unlock the Kushan Carrier wargame skin. Additionally, players who pre-order the Fleet Command Edition or Collector's Edition of Homeworld 3 will be able to experience the full game 72 hours before global launch. The Deluxe Edition, Fleet Command Edition and Collector's Edition of Homeworld 3 all include the Year One Pass, which includes new downloadable content expansions released throughout the year for the co-op roguelike War Games mode. This new content will feature playable factions for Wargames mode.
Players who pre-order the Fleet Command or Collector's Edition will also be able to play the game on March 5, 2024 and receive the Year One Pass. This includes new content expansions that will be released throughout the year for the co-op roguelike mode “War Games”.
