The Danish game manufacturer IO Interactive, responsible for the Hitman series among other things, is developing a video game for James Bond - 007. The project is being developed in cooperation with MGM, Eon Productions and Delphi. The game should appear for both PC and consoles. The new film entitled "No Time to Die" will be released in cinemas on April 21, 2021, with Daniel Craig playing 007 for the fifth and probably last time. As developer and publisher IO Interactive has now announced, a video game with a license to kill is in the works.
New Origin story planned for 007
In the 1950s, author Ian Flemming came up with the idea for the character of James Bond, and countless films and books as well as some video games have been released to this day. Nevertheless: Overall, James Bond seemed to be comparatively underrepresented in the games segment, considering the popularity of the character. After all, IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman series, is now giving the double-zero agent another chance for a guest appearance on the gaming screen. The video game is created in collaboration with MGM, Delphie and Eon Productions.
Not much is known, but IO Interactive has already confirmed that the new Bond game will be about a completely new story. The game currently has the working title “Project 007”, but it is unlikely to stay that way.
Over the past two decades, IO Interactive has developed and published several award-winning titles in the stealth and spy video game genre, and James Bond fits perfectly into the portfolio. The implementation of the game relies on the in-house Glacier engine, which Hitman has already used. The game will be developed for modern systems and platforms, most likely also for the new generation of consoles around Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X | S.
Project 007 is currently under active development in IO Interactive's offices in Copenhagen and Malmö. Industry experts have been recruited for both locations.

Marick commends the talent of the developers at IO Interactive, particularly their ability to create living worlds and tell immersive stories. Sounds like the story is clearly the focus of James Bond's new video game, purely conceptually.
