In Striving for Light: Survival the player plays against a mass of hordes of monsters. These attack in a variety of ways. What is important for the player is to prepare for each of these attacks and to avoid them skillfully. In a “wave system” you fight your way round after round and then face the final boss in the last round. The whole spectacle is then accompanied by epic background music.
One thing is clear. To progress in Striving for Light: Survival you have to play. Play a lot. How else are you supposed to unlock all 62 skills? Or the 16 different maps? Or the 37 different melee and ranged weapons? Considering this is still an indie game, the amount of content is pretty impressive. The fact that everything in this game was hand-drawn is also more than worth mentioning. Sure, something like that won't win a beauty prize in the end, but so be it.
Before the start of each battle, it is important to prepare your “run” properly. This includes, among other things: choosing the right character, but also his weapons and skills. If you make a mistake here, the round can be over quickly and you can go back to the main menu without having collected many achievements. However, runs can also be saved and continued later, which is particularly beneficial for casual players.
With the power of chance in chaos mode
However, if you don't feel like thinking about exactly which setup you're going into battle with, you can also select the so-called "chaos mode". Here the player is assigned a random character as well as a weapon and skills. With these it is then important to make the best of the situation and successfully complete as many rounds as possible.
Beat the final boss together
What's also pretty cool is that in Striving for Light: Survival you have the option to try out a local co-op mode. Here you can try to defeat the numerous creatures together with a friend and thus advance level by level. But be careful! In this mode, among other things: The life points and skills are divided among each other in order to enable a more exciting and cooperative gaming experience.
