Rebel Studio is pleased to announce the release of Pergola in May 2025. Pergola is by Michał Gołąb Gołębiowski and Przemek Wojtkowiak and illustrated by Karolina Kijak-Dzikońska.
Pergola is a fascinating Eurogame for 1 to 4 players, ages 10 and up, that offers extraordinary freedom in designing your own play area. The game invites you to connect with nature and create an atmosphere of peace and beauty – completely free of negative interactions. Players compete to create the most magnificent garden full of colorful flowers and enchanting insects.
How the board game works
Pergola combines action-based drafting, tile placement, and set collection into a harmonious gaming experience. Each player begins with an empty garden, which they must fill with plants to attract as many insects as possible. Players' decisions influence both the appearance of their garden and their final score—there are multiple paths to victory.
The game centers around gardening tools linked to specific action spaces on the action board. Each tool allows players to take two elements from the display. These can be placed flexibly on their own garden board, but according to specific rules, to form sets and collect points at the end of the game. After placing the elements, the player performs an action linked to the chosen tool—be it the fluttering of insects, the moving of a water droplet, the collecting of a leaf, or the jumping of a frog in the pond. The round ends with the refilling of the action board and the placing of the used tool in their own tool pot.
The game ends once all players have collected 15 tools. Points are then calculated using the scoreboard—the player with the highest score wins.
Pergola was inspired by Rebel Studio's friend Anna, a passionate plant lover. The detailed, hand-painted watercolor illustrations are by Karolina Kijak-Dzikońska, already known for her beautiful work on the Meadow series.
