Ravensburger's US subsidiary is now feeling the effects of this, at least in North America: the web shop is so heavily frequented that the site is sometimes on its knees. As a precaution, Ravensburger pointed out that orders could not simply be placed via the telephone hotline instead.
Ravensburger has an eye on the market
Ravensburger apparently also has an eye on what is currently going on in the market. This is specifically about the sometimes exorbitantly high prices that are charged for boosters, sets or displays. Some private sellers or even dealers now charge five times or more the recommended retail price. Of course that causes trouble. This “scalper behavior” is also well known in the video games sector and the topic is also widely discussed there. The big problem: Some greedy people buy in order to sell on - then at exorbitant prices. The more scarce a good is, the more money can be made from it. And because fans themselves pay high prices, the vicious circle is maintained.
Ravensburger now controls with information. Accordingly, there will be a reprint of Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter for North America and Europe. The products are expected to be available in the first quarter of 2024. The waiting time is therefore long, but at least it is clear that the products may currently be sold out, but in the medium term they will not be as rare as some scalpers want to believe.
At the same time, Ravensburger announces that additional booster products will be available in local stores in North America from October.
The publisher explains that the goal is to enable fans to buy and enjoy Disney Lorcana - at the official retail price. Measures are therefore being taken to ensure a certain level of product availability. Ravensburger wants to ensure a “healthy market for players and collectors”.

So I'm really happy that me and my two sisters each got a starter right at Gamescom. Even playing it is really fun.
