Ravensburger has in its first “Disney Lorcan“ Lorecast livestream event announced further news about the trading card game itself as well as new details about the upcoming “Disney Lorcana Challenge” events.
Disney's "Ursula's Return", the fourth set of the "Disney Lorcan TCG”, brings new Disney characters into the game, develops the game mechanics further and continues the story told in the first three sets. With “The Luminari Chronicles: Danger from the Deep”, a new, cooperative game is also being released in which players compete in an epic battle against Disney's Ursula. The new products will be available from May 17, 2024, initially in specialized toy stores and from May 31, 2024 in stores everywhere.
Sea Witch Ursula is up to mischief
In this new set, the devious and power-hungry Glimmer of Disney's sea witch Ursula, who was freed from the Grand Illuminarium in the second set, Rise of the Tides, is ready to put her plans into action and take control of Lorcana. The only thing standing in her way is the players and their team of Glimmers.
The Ursula Returns set will introduce additional franchises, popular characters, and evolved gameplay. More will be revealed about the story of Lorcana and the Luminari. More details to come. Ravensburger has already confirmed that highly anticipated characters such as Bruno and the rest of the Madrigal family from Disney's Encanto, as well as iconic characters Disney's Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey Mouse and Disney's Yen Sid from Disney Fantasia will appear in this set.
The Disney Lorcana TCG Set: Ursula Returns includes two starter decks with Amethyst/Amber and Sapphire/Steel ink combinations (€19,99) and booster packs (€5,99). A new Luminari Treasure Chest (€54,99) and accessories such as card sleeves (€9,99), deck boxes (€5,99), and playmats (€19,99) will also be available. All cards in this set can be played alongside the previously released First Chapter, Rise of the Tideforms, and Inklands sets, and can be used to update existing Disney Lorcana TCG decks.
"The Luminari Chronicles: Danger from the Deep"
The Luminari Chronicles: Danger from the Deep is the first cooperative game in the Disney Lorcana TCG. Players can either team up with friends or embark on a solo mission to defeat the Ursula Glimmer and save Lorcana. The game follows the Luminari on their quest to track down the devious Ursula Glimmer and find her hideout on the outskirts of Lorcana.
Ursula has prepared for the Luminari's arrival by mind-controlling other Glimmers and summoning natural phenomena to create seemingly insurmountable obstacles. The Luminari must use all their skill and teamwork to stop Ursula from consolidating her power over the world of Lorcana.
The game includes a dedicated play area for Ursula, two pre-made "Disney Lorcana TCG" decks (with Disney's Mulan and Yen Sid as well as cards from the first four "Disney Lorcana TCG" sets) and a powerful Ursula deck. The sea witch plays by her own rules.
The game has four difficulty levels from easy to extreme. Each difficulty level offers different variations that make the gaming experience unique. Ursula's power increases as the game progresses, so players should adapt their decks to have the best chance of success on the extreme difficulty level. The game is endlessly replayable and contains everything one or two players need. With additional "Disney Lorcana TCG" decks, up to four people can play. They can either use the cards from the pre-made decks or play with their own decks. Ursula's deck has its own card back, so her cards are easy to distinguish from others. The game is suitable for ages eight and up and retails for €59,99.
Luminari around the world will soon be able to participate in the “Disney Lorcan Challenge", a new series of tournament events for the "Disney Lorcana TCG". These start on May 25th with exclusive prizes. A "Dragon Fire" promo card with extended artwork awaits all participants. The four best players at each event will receive a card with extended artwork of "Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Tailor". In addition, there are other popular cards with extended artwork from previous sets to be won, including "Let It Go", "Cinderella - Stouthearted" and "Rapunzel - Gifted With Healing". The Disney Lorcana Challenge starts with the events in Atlanta (Georgia), USA and in Lille, France. Further information on the "Disney Lorcana Challenge" in Germany will follow. Side events will also take place as part of the event series, such as Disney Villainous tournaments, which have already taken place at Gen Con and PAX Unplugged 2023.
