Call of Duty is one of the most popular shooter series for gaming fans on PC, consoles and now also in the mobile sector. Board game fans will soon be able to plunge into tactical battles - provided Arcane Wonders successfully crowdfunds the title.
Given the large number of Call of Duty fans, success can be expected, but it is not uncommon for popular franchises to have problems when it comes to financing. Nevertheless: With the combination of strategy and tactical planning including exciting battles, Arcane Wonder's board game adaptation of Activision's classic should probably work. Since 2013, the games have thrilled millions of fans worldwide - sometimes more, sometimes less. There was always criticism: too much recycling, little new, bad balancing, boring maps. The list of annoyances is long depending on the title, and sometimes series spin-offs only received mixed grades.

Board game with Activision's blessing
Not surprisingly: it is a board game with an official license. So Activision will keep its hands on the brand and at least fundamentally ensure that a Call of Duty board game also has a good portion of Call of Duty in it. In any case, players take on the roles of elite units and compete against each other in skirmishes. The title is aimed at two or more players. This is implemented on the game board using miniatures and environments based on the maps on the video game.
The makers promise different scenarios and game modes: Fans should be able to get to know Call of Duty in a completely new way.
The tactical battles are likely to be exciting at the planning level: in the Call of Duty board game, this works in secret and simultaneously. Combos should be able to be triggered particularly effectively using dice and cards.
For everyone who doesn't know much about crowdfunding: The Call of Duty board game should also make it into regular stores next year, 2024. Since there are always discussions among fans in similar situations, Arcane Wonders has already made it clear that the commercial version will only be published once all Kickstarter fans have received their copy, i.e. the campaign has actually been completed.
Before that, Arcane Wonders wants to present the board game to the audience at GenCon in Indianapolis at the beginning of August. You will already be able to play practice games there. What is particularly interesting is the information about the maximum number of participants: 18.
