The board game Dice Hospital by Alley Cat Games, localized in this country by Kobold Verlag, is getting a roll-and-write offshoot, for which Brett J. Gilbert and Matthew Dunstan are responsible. The dice game is also published by Alley Cat. Under the title Dice Hospital - ER: Emergency Room, one to six players can try their hand at health management.
Instead of worker placement, there will soon be roll-and-write at Dice Hospital: One to six players, ages ten and up, will be allowed to compete in the 20 to 30-minute games. The title appears again at Alley Cat Games, but comes from the pens of Brett J. Gilbert and Matthew Dunstan.
Roll-and-write remains roll-and-write - even in emergencies
With Dice Hospital - ER: Emergency Room, the makers take up the hospital theme again, but this time players act with dice, pens and paper. They collect points in the course of the game by assigning their dice results to their game board. In the role of medical staff, players do their duty in the emergency department of a clinic - Dice Hospital - ER: Emergency Room tries to transport the hectic everyday life in the hospital to the gaming table in the short games with up to 30 minutes of playing time.
The highlight: The numbers entered on the player slips symbolize the patients who come to the emergency room. The point cards have two different sides between which players switch in the course of the game in order to get points in different ways.

The idea of roll-and-write is completely different to the Dice Hospital board game template from 2018, which is a classic worker placement game. One to four players try to treat as many patients as quickly as possible. Dice were also used in the board game, plus - and thus typical for the genre - tokens and meeples to carry out various actions. The reputation of the players was always the focus: Those who did not care for patients received bad reviews.
The new Roll-and-Write Dice Hospital - ER: Emergency Room does not come from unknown authors. Brett J. Gilbert and Matthew Dunstan were among other things responsible for games like Elysium or Roll for Adventure of Kosmos. Als Herausgeber des Roll-and-Write mit Klinik-Thema fungiert erneut Alley Cat Games. Das Würfelspiel wird als Teil einer Crowdfunding-Kampagne zu Dice Theme Park via Kickstarter angeboten. Der Launch ist für Anfang 2021 geplant.
