Last summer, the Big Tech company from Cupertino announced the Apple Vision Pro, a pair of glasses with which you can immerse yourself in virtual reality. According to current reports, Apple plans to launch the Apple Vision Pro in the United States on February 2nd.
After several setbacks in the past week, Apple's share price took a big jump today - at times it rose by around 1,6. The reason for this is probably the announcement about the market launch of the Apple Vision Pro, Apple's VR and eye-based reality glasses.
Apple's high-tech ski goggles for around 3.200 euros
Apple fans were a little surprised by the design of the VR device: the high-tech accessory looks like ski goggles, but is overall no bulkier than similar virtual reality glasses such as the Meta Quest 3 or HTC's Vive. However, there is one important difference between the Apple device and the competing hardware: the price.
The Apple Vision Pro will cost around 3.200 euros when it is launched on the market. The company will begin delivering the hardware on February 2nd, Apple announced today. The only downer is that the glasses are initially only being shipped in the United States.
The Apple Vision Pro can be pre-ordered from January 18th in US Apple stores and in the online shop – for $3.400. There is a model with 265 gigabytes of memory; Glasses wearers have to pay around $100 extra to get Zeiss inserts for VR glasses.
In return for the money invested, there is at least a lot of technology: a 4K screen per eye and twelve cameras - Apple claims to have built 5.000 patents into the Vision Pro. Typical for the group: instead of providing information via boring VR glasses or augmented reality, they served the innovation sector linguistically from the start. The Apple Vision Pro is therefore a revolutionary spatial computer. Users should therefore be able to access a correspondingly large range of applications. But: Games should also be possible, including 250 titles via Apple Arcade as well as Sonic Dream Team or NBA 2K24.
However, in addition to using office and learning software, you should be able to communicate via video telephony, you should be able to experience games, films and series as well as sports events as if on a big screen.
Apple wants to clearly differentiate itself from the competition with the Apple Vision Pro, especially technologically. You should steer with your hands, your voice and your eyes; Apple has developed its own operating system for this purpose. According to Apple, privacy and security were central factors in its development. However, there is one thing despite all the high-tech components: a cable. This ranges from glasses to a battery pack that is worn on the hip. The battery for the Apple Vision Pro should provide around two hours of power.
Price details and a date for the European release of the Apple Vision Pro are not yet known.
